Asym
Asym
An asymmetrical surfboard features a distinctive design where the outline, rocker, and rail profiles of the board are not symmetrical. This deliberate asymmetry serves a specific purpose in enhancing a surfer's performance.
The asymmetrical design aims to cater to a surfer's stance and the unique challenges posed by various wave conditions. The boards are specifically designed for either a natural footer or a goofy footer.
By accommodating a surfer's natural foot positioning, the board maximizes control and responsiveness, allowing for smoother transitions rail to rail. This design encourages surfers to surf more dynamically from one rail to another; the shorter rail for tighter turns, the longer rail provides length to drive and project down the line.
Asymmetrical surfboards are often seen as unusual and scare off most surfers. However, they are truly the next logical step in improving your skills and enjoyment in the water, unlocking new levels of creativity and precision while surfing.
An asymmetrical surfboard features a distinctive design where the outline, rocker, and rail profiles of the board are not symmetrical.
Notable features:
- Longer rail on toe side; helps give more stability, projection and hold - especially in steeper faces.
- Shorter, curvier rail on heel side; a tighter turning arc
- Longer rail in the nose on heel side; when laid over on rail, the extra length lets you push the board hard; it will hold and project you through turns.
- Shorty, curvier rail in the nose on the toe side; bring the board around from turns without catching and bogging a rail
Fin set up:
- Toe side a single twin fin
- Heel side half quad fin set up
